Students in an English class at a Positively Languages school

Positively Languages, English language schools in England, Scotland, Ireland, Canada and the USA

Positively Languages, formerly Kaplan International Languages, is a group of language schools that brings together Kaplan International Languages, Alpadia Language Schools and Azurlingua under one name. It teaches English, French and German in more than twenty schools, and claims more than one million students from 140 countries over twenty years.

Who is Positively Languages?

In May 2026, Kaplan Languages Group was bought from the Kaplan group by Inspirit Capital, a London-based investor. It took the name Positively Languages on 29 October 2026, when it also opened a new school in Malta (St Julian's) and new premises in London, at Bloomsbury Place. Only the name changes: these are the same schools, at the same addresses. We present them here under their new name.

How they teach

The in-house method, called P+, starts with a level test taken before arrival: each student is placed in the right class from day one. Classes are small and dynamic — 12 students on average, 17 at most, 16 in Dublin according to the official site — and students speak, practise new vocabulary and build real communication skills.

Learning goes on outside class: a digital space (the Student Hub, over 500 activities advertised) lets students continue at their own pace, and a social programme gets them exploring the city, practising English and meeting people. The general English course in our catalogue has 20 lessons per week.

The group also highlights project-based learning following the Cambridge framework, and a progress guarantee of one level on some intensive courses, under conditions (95% attendance, homework completed, no behavioural issues). The stated length varies between pages of the official site (8 or 10 weeks): the exact conditions are in the school’s terms.

What sets Positively Languages apart

  • Cities chosen for immersion. Centres are in the heart of student cities, from London to Toronto, with weekend excursions and a social programme; most excursions are not included in the course price.
  • Recognised accreditations. British Council and English UK for UK schools, ACELS and English Education Ireland in Dublin, Languages Canada for the Canadian centres, ACCET in the USA; the group is also a member of NAFSA and TESOL.
  • 30+ programmes. London (A1 to C1), New York, Toronto, Liverpool and Bournemouth (A2 to B2) offer classes for adults over 30; younger students can enrol.
  • Support towards university. Oxford offers a university placement service; Boston a university preparation programme; Toronto and Vancouver academic English pathways to Canadian colleges and universities.

Its programmes, and who they are for

For adults aged 18 and over: flexible-length general English (1 to 52 weeks), semi-intensive or intensive, IELTS, TOEFL and Cambridge exam preparation, Business English, 30+ programmes, and a 6-, 9- or 11-month academic year or semester. The group also runs camps and junior programmes, which we do not present here.

In our catalogue each centre offers between 4 and 12 courses; the reference course is general English, 20 lessons per week, with many possible start dates depending on the course.
