Teen language courses in Wales with Celtica
Discover Wales through our junior programme run by the Celtica school. Located on the campus of Monmouth School, our programme is aimed at young people aged 11 to 17. Monmouth, a historic town in Wales, lies in the heart of the Wye Valley, in an area of outstanding natural beauty and close to well-known cities such as Cardiff, Bristol and Bath. This location is ideal for our junior summer programme, offering a wide range of activities and excursions so that young people can discover Monmouth, its region and other towns and cities in the United Kingdom.
The campus
The school campus is equipped with several facilities, such as a cafeteria, rooms to accommodate our participants, communal areas for young people to meet outside class, sports facilities such as a sports hall and a climbing wall, and an indoor swimming pool. The premises are also equipped with Wi-Fi, available free of charge.
The programme
Our language course includes 15 hours of English classes per week, 4 activities including sport, handicrafts or cultural activities, 6 evening activities, 2 half-day excursions and 1 day excursion on Saturday. The English classes are designed specifically for young participants, offering group discussions and debates on topical subjects, to improve their fluency and confidence in speaking and writing, broaden their vocabulary, refine their grammar, improve their pronunciation and increase their knowledge of Anglo-Saxon culture. The excursions allow students to discover other cities, such as London, Bath, Bristol or Oxford, as well as local sites, to learn more about the history and culture of Wales. The sports activities on offer are varied, such as football, badminton, basketball, tennis or swimming. Evening activities include quizzes, games, films, fashion shows, a disco night, handicrafts and a treasure hunt.
Young people will have the chance to stay directly on campus in shared rooms (2 to 6 people) with shared bathrooms, single rooms with shared bathrooms, or single rooms with private bathrooms. Meals will be served in the cafeteria, except on the excursion day when a packed lunch will be provided. Celtic staff will be present 24/7 in the residence and will be available day and night to look after students.
