The ELS school in St Petersburg: English classes and activities in Florida
ELS, an English school located on the university campus of Eckerd College in St Petersburg, welcomes children from the age of 10 and teenagers for language courses in Florida, surrounded by beaches and sunshine. The spacious, bright building of ELS "St. Pete" is set in a leafy, privileged park, only 15 minutes from the city centre, on the seafront, with its own private beach. Students can also enjoy the university's many sports facilities and a multimedia area equipped with connected computers, a cinema room, a billiard room, a music room, a snack bar and a cafeteria.
The course programme is delivered by teachers specialising in teaching English as a second language. Students can, if they wish, sit the TOEFL exam at the end of their language training.
The stay in detail
The programme
The language course in St Pete offers young people a supervised activity programme every afternoon including beach sessions, creative workshops, sports, games and leisure. The campus has many facilities, in particular a swimming pool, a gym, an athletics track, tennis courts and a fitness centre. Young people also have access to amenities such as a cinema room, a music room, a snack bar and a cafeteria.
Shopping trips in town and sightseeing are organised in the late afternoon and in the evening. Entertainment is also planned, such as karaoke and disco evenings. Day excursions are organised at weekends, in particular to Busch Gardens, Disney's Magic Kingdom, Universal Studio and Islands of Adventure. Young people are accompanied at all times by at least one adult from the supervision team.
Accommodation
Young people are accommodated on campus in double rooms with a private bathroom, full board. Meals are taken in the campus cafeteria.

Saint Petersburg, or St Pete, is on the west coast of Florida, not far from the Mexican border. It is famous for its summer temperatures all year round and its white sandy beaches. Arrival on site
The school organises transfers from Tampa airport, which is about 30 minutes' drive from the Eckerd College residence. The transfer between the residence and the airport at the end of the stay is also provided. These services are offered at extra cost.
