German, residence and immersion in the Rhine valley

In Oberwesel, did deutsch-institut runs a junior language course in Germany in a setting that is quieter and more residential than a large city. Located in the Rhine valley, the destination allows young people to concentrate on German while discovering an emblematic region of the country, with a programme designed for a teenage audience.

The German classes are complemented by activities and group time that reinforce the immersion. Young people use the language in a concrete, supervised and collective context, which helps build fluency and confidence. The stay thus keeps a real coherence between learning and lived experience.

Oberwesel suits families who favour an environment that is easy to grasp, residential life and clear organisation. For teenagers, it is a destination that breaks with the more conventional circuits, with a calmer atmosphere and a strong international dimension.

The result is a serious, accessible and formative German course, where students make progress in the language while enjoying a well-structured junior experience in the heart of Germany.

The stay in detail

The school

The German school is located next to the medieval Schönburg castle, just a few minutes' walk from the sports centre, the railway station and the supermarkets. On site, students can enjoy the indoor swimming pool, the multi-sports pitch and the games room with table tennis and billiards.

The accommodation

Students are accommodated in the language school itself, in rooms with four beds and a private bathroom. They have full board and a cafeteria is available to them in the same building. Wi-Fi access is at extra cost, at 5 euros per day.

The programme

At the start of the programme, young people take a level test so that they can be placed in the appropriate class. At the end of the stay, they receive a certificate showing the level of German they have reached and their progress. Areas such as writing, speaking, listening and reading comprehension are taught in a fun and interactive way.

This language programme is designed for students at elementary to intermediate level, with classes limited to fifteen students maximum. Students can take standard German classes of 24 lessons per week or intensive classes of 28 lessons. Afternoons and evenings are filled with a variety of activities, and the school's setting lends itself to sports and outdoor activities. At the weekend, a day excursion is organised to a nearby town.
