Honolulu is located in the south-east of the island of Oahu off the Mexican coast, in the county of Hawaii of which it is the capital. The city enjoys a sunny tropical climate often considered very pleasant because it is less humid than other similar climates. Two seasons are generally distinguished over the year, with little difference in temperature or climate: hot and sometimes humid summers, and mild winters during which temperatures rarely drop below 18°. Suffice it to say that the annual amount of sunshine is fairly generous. There is little variation either in the surface water temperature, which generally varies relatively little, from 25° in winter to 27° in summer.

It was in 1794 that William Brown, a British captain, dropped anchor at the spot that would become the present-day port of Honolulu. Since then, it became a favoured port of call for ships travelling between North America and Asia. The port of call of Honolulu then experienced rapid growth. It was the dynasty of the Kamehameha kings that contributed, for its part, to the development of the city of Honolulu. The first of them, Kamehameha I, conquered the island of O`ahu at the battle of Nu`uanu and moved his royal court to Waikiki in 1804. It would take until 1845 for Honolulu officially became the capital of the kingdom of Hawaii. It was not until 1898 that the United States annexed the Hawaii archipelago. Following the referendum of 21 August 1959, Hawaii would become one of the 50 American states.

The Hawaiian capital Honolulu is indeed very well served by the bus company called "TheBus". With 107 routes, TheBus covers destinations across the whole island of Oahu! While the cost of living between France and the United States is fairly comparable, that of Honolulu remains all the same higher than in the other American States. You can nevertheless have lunch or dinner there for a reasonable sum (reckon on 10-20$ for 2 in popular restaurants, 25-30 $ at midday in mid-range restaurants).
