Who is Global Village USA?
Global Village USA is, in our catalogue, the Global Village school in Honolulu, on the island of Oahu (Hawaii). Its official website describes it as a partner of Global Village Canada (Calgary, Victoria), which we present separately. Its official website has referred to it since the start of the 2026 school year as “Global Village IIE Hawaii”: Global Village Hawaii and IIE Hawaii, two English schools in Honolulu, have joined forces, for more than 60 years of combined experience.
The centre is located at 1440 Kapiolani Boulevard, on the 11th floor of an office building, opposite the Ala Moana Center (the city’s main bus terminal), a few minutes’ walk from the beach and Waikiki.

How they teach
The official website announces classes of 16 students at most, with an average of 10 students among adults, classrooms with an ocean view and free Wi-Fi.
The school applies an English Only rule: English is spoken in class as throughout the school. It also limits the share of any one nationality among its adult students to 50%, so that English remains the common language.
Levels follow the European scale (CEFR); optional small-group courses complement the main programme. In our catalogue, lessons last 50 minutes, with 16 to 25 lessons per week depending on the option.
What sets Global Village USA apart
- A centre in the heart of Honolulu. Opposite the Ala Moana Center, with the bus terminal next door, and a few minutes’ walk from the beach, with a student lounge overlooking the ocean.
- A daily activity programme. More than 20 activities per month according to the official website: hula and beach yoga classes, hikes, catamaran, whale watching (in season), volunteer activities; others, such as skydiving or swimming with dolphins, are offered à la carte.
- Courses linked to Hawaii. English + surf or paddle, + hula, + ukulele or + yoga, to choose alongside General English.
- Accreditations. The official website cites CEA accreditation (Commission on English Language Program Accreditation) and IALC membership; it also announces an academic partnership with Kapiolani Community College (University of Hawaii) for pathways to university.

For adults: General English in five options (16 to 25 lessons per week), “English Pro” (General English with 2, 4 or 6 tutoring lessons per week), preparation for Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE), “English + activity” options (surf, hula, ukulele, yoga) and a 50+ programme with or without activities. The official website also presents programmes for children and teenagers, which do not appear on this adult page.

Three types of accommodation are offered by the school: host family, shared residence (dormitory) and, according to its website, furnished apartments in Waikiki.
